This new file lists from a user point of view the main new features of the package. For more details refer to the README and/or the ChangeLog. * MoviX 0.8.1 New features ------------ - added mouse support - added multilingual support: now the MoviX menu is available in 6 languages: English, Italian, German, Polish, Portuguese and Russian. To set your favorite language you have to boot with the boot arg LANGUAGE=xx where 'xx' is the code of the country (e.g. it for Italy) Of course you don't have to use any boot arg for English :-) - added support for Polish and Russian keyboard layouts - the 'Edit->Save config' menu is now able to save the config files directly in the device it booted from (when booting from HD partition/USB pen/NFS server) Fixes ----- - remotes now work fine again - the 'Play' menu now gets correctly focused after every dialog box - the 'aa' video output driver works fine once again - lots of other small menu bugs have been fixed * MoviX 0.8.1rc3 New features ------------ - CD/DVD drives are now slowed down by default to reduce thei noise use 'SLOW=n' at the boot if you experience boot problems - added a telnet daemon: now it is possible to log to a MoviX box from a second PC as root with no password, the movix menu will automatically start at the login. BEWARE: use this feature *only* in internal *trusted* networks, everybody will be able to log as root on your PC! - every drive is now accessible from the MPlayer menu - you can play the whole content of a CD from the MPlayer menu using the Play->CD menu - added shortcuts 'd','v','a','c' to MPlayer to play resp. DVD,VCD,ACD,CD from the first drive. HD partitions 2. USB pens 3. CompactFlash cards 4. Net (through a dhcp server) To install MoviX on a USB pen or a CompactFlash card you can also boot from CD and run the script 'install.pl' PCMCIA cards ------------ PCMCIA support has finally been added: please test it and report! MoviX can run with 32 MB of RAM ------------------------------- If you have a Linux swap partition on a HD, then MoviX will use it. This allows MoviX work even on PCs with as low as 32MB of RAM. Graphical boot -------------- The (useful) kernel boot messages are now covered by pictures (nice but kind of unuseful). If you need to check the kernel output you can press 'F2'.
